Birthday Camera

Well it's me birthday and my lovely wife and kids made me a camera cake! Knowing I'm a compulsive snapper, what could be more delicious than an edible 35mm cakestamatic? ;-)

Are we out of cheese and crackers?

Send someone out to get some! Quick!

See Here not anymore...

Well, the show has been taken down now and it was a highly pleasant and successful experience for me. The amount of imagery I sold far outweighed my expectations and overall the response to the show was great. I'll definitely do this again.

I'd really like to thank Sean Antrobus for helping me put it up, Chloe Holbrook and Derek Kelly for looking after it for me and Brian Lomas for helping take it down again. You guys made this whole thing possible and it really meant a lot to me.

In case you missed the show, here's a gallery of snaps of how it looked - please to enjoy:

Opening night is over but the show must go on!

The opening night for my show at Thistle Hall was a great success with standing room only a couple of points and a fair amount of purchasing! Not bad for my first show in 15 years...  I was too busy talking and dealin' to get any real shots of the crowd, but I did get some video on my new Kodak Zi8 cam so I'll post that later on. In the meantime here's a link to some shots of the gallery for those that can't make it... the show is still on and open until Sunday May 2nd, so you still got time to check it out.

Book sample images

Here's some quick snaps of how the book turned out... The myCanvas people have a really good web-based interface for putting together books and partner with Smugmug. I didn't need to upload anything to put this together. The print quality is fantastic too... click on the images below for a larger view:

Stages of a Photographer

This is all over the interwebs now of course but it tickles me senseless. Take a look and see if you can figure out where you're at. I'm trying to avoid gearfaggotry but I just LOVE technology... although I've started to think about old film cameras lately...

This came from DataVis I think originally. Well worth a look for other infographics.

Hipstamatic iPhone app

I played over the weekend with the Hipstamatic iPhone app... taking throw away snaps while on trips etc... it's making me wish I could view the world through the fog of a plastic lens and some outdated film! I'm having a lot of fun exploring the different lens and film and flash combinations... I highly recommend it if you have an iPhone and NZ$2.59 to spend:
